250 grams is too light for economical and useful recreational flight.
Reasons why 250 grams is too light:
The current 250 gram limit will be introduced and enforced in the new FAA Laws in September 2023. There is a push to raise the FPV weight limit from 250g to 1 Kg.
Recent History of FAA Law changes -
In the past few years the FAA created many committees representing future drone use from all perspectives such as agriculture, delivery, transportation, law enforcement, and hobby recreational RC flights.
The Hobby Recreational Drone usage was at the time the majority of who actually used drones for things like taking breathtaking aerial video, Line of sight flight in their backyard or local park, or FPV Racing which gives a really enjoyable perspective of flight.
Even though the hobby RC community was the majority who flow drones it was only presented the opportunity to advocate for itself as a minority perspective as one of a hundred other committee representing the multitude of industries developing the laws around drone future usage.
Community Based Organizations (CBOs) have developed FPV, Drone, Line of Sight Flight safety rules okayed by the FAA
